Meal Plans Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Block Meal?
Each meal is considered one block. When dining in Triton’s Pub or Café Bon Appétit the cashier will swipe your student ID card and one block will be deducted per meal. If a friend is accompanying you, you may treat them to a meal by having the cashier swipe an extra block from your student ID card, as long as your current meal block balance is above 25 blocks. If you have less than 25 bocks you will not be able to swipe for a guest.

What are Flex Dollars and Triton Bucks?
Flex Dollars are included with all block meal plan options. The Flex Dollar Program is a declining balance account that works just like a checking account for food; as you spend your flex dollars, they are deducted from your account. Triton Bucks are another form of declining balance, and they can be purchased from Dining Services or online, here. Flex Dollars come with your meal plan, while Triton Bucks can be purchased to supplement declining balance throughout the year.

What are the benefits of Flex Dollars?
Flex Dollars offer students many options. For example, you may purchase items at Triton’s Pub, take advantage of one time specials offered at Starbucks and Café Bon Appétit, culinary educational programs, theme dinners, and much more.

What can I do with unused blocks, Flex Dollars, or Triton Bucks?
Meal blocks are not transferable and will expire at the end of each semester. Flex Dollars and Triton Bucks will transfer from fall semester to spring semester, but will expire at the end of the academic year. Triton Bucks do not expire.

What if I begin to run low on blocks or Flex Dollars?
Triton Bucks are available by visiting the Dining Services office located in the Main Café building.

Can a friend borrow my ID card?
No. Only the card holder will be allowed to make purchases.

Can I change my Meal Plan option?
Visit Student Affairs or email housing@eckerd.edu for any questions regarding your meal plan.

What if I should lose my ID Card?
