Meal Plans Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be enrolled automatically in a Meal Plan?
Yes. All new students will be enrolled in the Tier A/250 plan.

What is a Block Meal?
Each meal is considered one block. When dining in CEC Café or Café Bon Appétit the cashier will swipe your student ID card and one block will be deducted per meal. If a friend is accompanying you to the CEC Café or Café Bon Appétit, you may treat him/her to a meal by having the cashier swipe an extra block from your student ID card.

What are Flex Dollars?
Flex Dollars are included with all block meal plan options. The Flex Dollar Program is a declining balance account that works just like a checking account for food; as you spend your flex dollars, they are deducted from your account.

What are the benefits of Flex Dollars?
Flex Dollars offer students many options. For example, you may purchase items at Triton’s Pub, take advantage of one time specials offered at CEC Café and Café Bon Appétit, culinary educational programs, theme dinners, and much more.

What can I do with unused blocks or Flex Dollars?
Any remaining blocks or flex dollars are transferable from fall semester to spring semester provided you maintain a comparable plan for spring semester. All unused blocks nd flex dollars expire at the end of the academic year.

What if I begin to run low on blocks or Flex Dollars?
Additional blocks and/or flex dollars are available by visiting the Dining Services office located in the Main Café building.

Can a friend borrow my ID card?
No. Only the card holder will be allowed to make purchases.

Can I change my Meal Plan option?
Yes. Students have 2 weeks after the start of the semester to make changes to the meal plan.

What if I should lose my ID Card?
Email IDS@eckerd.edu and a new ID card will be printed for you. Your new ID can then be picked up at the Campus Safety Office. A $25.00 replacement fee will be charged to our Student Account.
